Early Notes on Learning

2022-03-17

As I continue to work through the Khan Academy courses on economics and finance, some observations:

  • The more I learn, the more Nietzsche's dictum that someone with a "why" can tolerate almost any "how" rings true. That's especially the case when I can connect what I learn to my work and my mission.

  • Should I be surprised that I get tired more quickly when I'm learning for a few hours? I recall that one of the reasons that chess players retire is that their physical stamina declined. What's the PPC for learning and exercising?

  • As always, it's simple: find a resource that works for you, practice in a setting as close as possible to your domain, and keep testing yourself as you go. I'll write this up properly at some point, I hope.
